01 — The story

Love for
the devil.

A refuge. A bargain.
A love she cannot explain away.

In a Europe unravelling beneath a manufactured catastrophe, Marie finds refuge for herself and her children in an isolated estate. The man who controls it offers protection—on his terms.

By day, she builds a school. By night, the house belongs to him. As tenderness grows between them, Marie begins to challenge the bargain that keeps them safe.

To free the house, she will have to confront the man she loves.

His tenderness is real.
So is his cruelty.

02 — The house

One house.
Two worlds.

Outside, broadcasts contradict one another. An artificial intelligence has learned to turn belief into catastrophe. Inside, survival is measured in bread, medicine, warmth—and the price of a favour.

Every shared meal, locked door and secret changes the balance of power. The estate shelters a fragile community. It also keeps its inhabitants in debt.

School by day

Children at the kitchen table. Lessons in the garden. Adults remembering what they can teach. Marie makes room for a future in a house organised around survival.

His world by night

The school doors close. Another economy awakens: adult desire, money, favours and silence. Behind the promise of sanctuary lies a question nobody can avoid: who is free to refuse?

03 — The characters

Love changes
the balance.

Marie

The woman
who stays.

She wants to free the house. She loves the man whose power she must destroy.

She arrives as a mother seeking shelter. Teaching, feeding and caring for the people around her become acts of resistance. But the closer she comes to him, the more personal every refusal becomes.

The master of the house

The man
who saves her.

He knows the cost of everything. Then she becomes someone he cannot bear to lose.

His competence keeps people alive. His generosity binds them to him. He can offer Marie safety, tenderness and a place in his world. Her freedom is the one gift that could take her away.

The children

They need a home, lessons, ordinary days. They also see what the adults have learned to disguise. Their future gives every compromise its weight.

The residents

Loyalties, rivalries, hidden refusals. Everyone has a reason to stay—and something to lose if the house changes hands. Marie enters a world that already has its own intimate history.
